November 10, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Internet service provider conference ISPCON (ispcon.com) concluded Thursday in Santa Clara, California, with conference organizers awarding a prize as the event’s third day came to a close.
As the conference’s exhibit hall closed at noon on Thursday, the show’s organizer Jon Price presented the winning attendee, Chiachi Hung of Magicore with a new Segway device at the show-concluding reception.
In a shift from previous ISPCON events, the Fall 2006 show wrapped up the exhibition hall at noon, but carried the sessions later into the day. And the sessions remained well-attended long after the exhibit hall had been cleared.
The day’s remaining programming offered a hefty selection of hosting content, spread across the Hosting, Sales and Business tracks.
In a session entitled “Seven Reasons Why Hosting is Hot (and getting hotter) Right Now)” EV1 Servers/The Planet (theplanet.com) CEO Doug Erwin discussed his take on how Web hosts relate to SaaS vendors, social networks and major Internet media companies like Microsoft, Google and Yahoo!
Other afternoon sessions included “Hosting and Datacenter Growth Strategies that Work,” “The Truth and Practice of Delivering VPS Services” and “Kicking SaaS: Realities and Opportunities for Hosts, ISVs and ISPs.”
