February 18, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — TeleCity (telecity.com),a provider of colocation and managed data center services, announced onFriday that Ireland’s Internet exchange, the Internet Neutral ExchangeAssociation (inex.ie), located its second exchange point in the company’s Dublin, Ireland data center facility.
Under the terms of the agreement,TeleCity will host INEX’s infrastructure and help INEX to interconnectits members’ networks and exchange Internet traffic. TeleCity said itscustomers would see reduced upstream connectivity costs through directpeering with INEX members. INEX currently has seventeen members: Bytel,Cable & Wireless, Clearwire Ireland, Colt Telecom, Digiweb, eircom,Esat BT, HEAnet, Hosting365, Internet Ireland, Irish Broadband, MagnetNetworks, Microsoft, Netsource, NTL Ireland and Smart Telecom. Itexpects membership to hit 40 in 2005.

According to TeleCity, the growth of Internet traffic in Ireland was the main reason INEX moved to a second location.

TeleCity said it now hosts six of themost important Internet exchange points in Europe, including LINX inLondon, AMSIX in Amsterdam, DE-CIX 2 in Frankfurt, FNIX and FreeIX inParis, MaNAP in Manchester and now INEX.
