September 8, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — According to data accumulated by research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com), iPowerWeb (ipowerweb.com) has the most reliable Web hosting company site, recording a failed request rate of only 0.04 percent. The data was collected for the period August 1 to August 31.
SeeWeb (seeweb.it), Rackspace (rackspace.com) and DataPipe (datapipe.com) were the second through fourth most reliable hosting sites, according to Netcraft, experiencing failed request rates of 0.05, 0.06 and 0.07 percent respectively. Tiscali (tiscali.com), Pair Networks (pair.com), Interland (interland.com), Jumpline (jumpline.com) and Demon (demon.net) took fifth through ninth places, all registering failed request rates of 0.08 percent. 1&1 US (oneadnone.com) was tenth at 0.09 percent.
The top ten was quite different from last month when Pair Networks, Katarre and Cee-kay were found by Netcraft to be the most reliable Web hosting company sites.
Of the top ten sites, five run on the Linux platform. According to Netcraft, this was the first time the majority of the top ten ran on Linux platforms. Last month, four of the top ten ran on Linux and another four on FreeBSD.
