Ipass Picks BladeLogic Automation

May 19, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center automation software developer Bladelogic (bladelogic.com) announced earlier this week that enterprise connectivity provider Ipass (ipass.com) had deployed BladeLogic Operations Manager to manage its server and applications infrastructure. BladeLogic said the deployment allows Ipass to increase efficiency and responsiveness while lowering data center operating costs.

“As a business connectivity service provider, our customers demand high-availability access to their corporate networks wherever and whenever needed,” says Peter Albert, director of operations engineering at Ipass. “With the growth of our company and a commensurate increase in the number and type of servers and applications to support our business, data center automation is critical to ensuring high service levels while controlling costs. BladeLogic gives us the ability to quickly, accurately and safely perform complex changes to our application infrastructure. The associated cost savings should be substantial.”

Ipass estimates it will save over 7,500 man-hours annually while improving mean time to repair by 500 percent.
