(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Phoenix-based data center operator and colocation provider i/o Data Centers (www.iodatacenters.com) announced on Tuesday that it has named Wall Street tech investment banker Jonathan F Mauck its chief financial officer.
Mauck joins the company from Citigroup’s Investment Banking division, where he was global head of the communications infrastructure team. He was with Citigroup for 11 years, during which he advised technology, telecom and data center service companies on strategic transactions, in the process raising more than $20 billion in capital.
“Jon Mauck is an extraordinary talent in the data center industry,” says i/o CEO George D. Slessman, quoted in the announcement. “His proven financial discipline and ability to access the capital markets fits well with our commitment to grow with our customers as their IT energy and data center services needs grow.”
The last major investment announced by i/o was in 2008, when it raised $56 million in venture capital from Sterling Partners.
“I joined i/o because it is the best growth platform in the entire data center industry, and is leading its transformation,” Mauck said, also quoted in the press release. “i/o is uniquely positioned as the only scalable provider of data center services focused on enterprise customers.”
In june, i/o announced that it had connected its facilities to the carrier network of TeliaSonera, which it described as “Europe’s largest fiber network.”
