(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Phoenix, Arizona-based Colocation and data center operator i/o Data Centers (www.iodatacenters.com) announced this week that it has made the network of TeliaSonera International Carrier available to customers of its data center services.
According to i/o, TeliaSonera operates more than 27,000 miles of fiber network, including more than 100 points of presence in 35 countries in Europe and Asia, along with the US. The addition of its network, says i/o, will enable the company to offer customers the ability to connect directly to Europe’s largest IP backbone.
“We constantly look for ways to improve and expand the network services we provide,” says Kindra Martone, SVP and GM for i/o. “The range of carrier options we make available to our customers provides unprecedented flexibility, reliability and cost-savings. With the addition of TeliaSonera International Carrier, we have greatly improved our global network footprint.”
According to i/o, the company’s carrier-neutral facilities already offer customers access to more than a dozen telecommunications carriers – a list that includes AT&T, Verizon Business, Level 3, AboveNet and others. It also offers blended bandwidth and data transport services. By not charging for cross-connect fees, the company says it expects to save customers more than $25 million over the next three years.
TeliaSonera provides a combination of IP, capacity and voice services over its network. It says the connection into i/o’s facility in Phoenix is important to its strategy for expanding its network in the US.
“This increased expansion of the US network is strategically important and helps us maintain our
position as one of the largest global IP carriers,” says Paul Dahlgren, VP and head of product and business management at TeliaSonera. “Moreover, the extended network enhances our
service offering to our US based customers.”
Phoenix is becoming an increasingly popular location for colocation and data center operations. Last week, the city saw the opening of the 160,000 square-foot Phoenix NAP facility.
