(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — European data center operator Interxion (www.interxion.com) announced on Friday that its PAR 5 data center in Saint Denis, a suburb located 5.8 miles from the center of Paris, is now operational.
The 26,240-square-feet data center provides over 13,120 square feet of equipped space.
A significant portion of the space has been pre-sold, and the company has already completed the first customer implementations.
The completion of the new data center comes only a few months after the opening of the new PAR 6 data center in Paris suburb, Ivry-sur-Seine.
The opening of PAR 5 brings the total amount of operational Interxion facilities across Europe to 26, with over 180,400 square feet of equipped space in 11 countries.
Designed using Interxion’s energy-efficient modular architecture, the data center uses free cooling and maximum-efficiency components as standard.
The facility offers 2N UPS power and N+1 cooling as well as advanced alarm and monitoring systems, and its redundant 16 MVA grid connection allows for high-density-power configurations to be provided to customers as standard.
The data center is connected to Intexion’s other Paris data centers via a dark fiber connection, in addition to over 50 carriers and ISPs. As a result, PAR5 customers can also connect directly to the PaNAP, FreeIX, PARIX and SFINX Internet exchanges.
“We have had a very busy but successful year building out our facilities to meet growing customer demand, and we now offer an unmatched geographical footprint of best-in-class facilities in the Paris region,” said Fabrice Coquio, Interxion France managing director. “The growth in IP traffic and the mass migration of applications to the web put diverse connectivity and high-density power at the top of the customer agenda, and these are at the heart of our data center offering.”
