Ali Moinuddin, director of corporate communication and co-chair of The Green Grid's European Communications Committee.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Colocation firm Interxion (www.interxion.com) announced Thursday its director of corporate communications, Ali Moinuddin, has been appointed to co-chair of the Green Grid’s (www.thegreengrid.org) European Communications Committee.
Moinuddin will be responsible for promoting awareness of advanced energy efficiency in data centers within the pan-European community.
The Green Grid is an international consortium of IT companies and professionals looking to improve energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems.
The Green Grid claims with the adoption of uniform ways to measure processes, methods and technologies, it will help end-users manage their facilities and equipment to achieve optimal energy efficiency.
“The Green Grid is making great strides in delivering industry-standard data center practices and metrics,” says Interxion’s chief marketing officer, Kevin Dean. “With Ali’s expertise and Interxion’s strong position in the pan-European data center market, I’m confident that we can contribute significantly to building awareness of The Green Grid consortium to increase the impact of its energy-efficiency leadership.”
After participating as a contributor member of The Green Grid for two years, Interxion has adopted procedures such as monthly internal overview of energy-efficiency in all of the 11 countries where it operates and the monitoring of PUE in all 27 data centers since 2004.
“As a leading European provider of data center services, we are fully committed to helping the industry implement and define best practices in achieving data centre efficiency,” says Moinuddin. “It is an honor to be appointed by the Green Grid, and on behalf of Interxion, I look forward to supporting the industry and driving the adoption of a single, standardized common set of metrics and processes that enable enhanced measurement techniques, greater efficiencies and reduced environmental impact.”
