Internet infrastructure provider M247 announced on Tuesday that has acquired London-based UK Web.Solutions Direct for an undisclosed amount.

The company said it acquired UKWSD for an all-cash, “seven-figure sum” to take over its web hosting service agreements in excess of 15,000 websites. The former owners of UKWSD, Paul Ridge and Neil Wood, will be pursuing other interests following a transition period.

Manchester-based M247 operates data centers in Manchester, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Brussels, Paris, Prague, Budapest and Bucharest.

This is the ninth acquisition for M247 over the past 10 years and brings its total websites under management to 70,000. The acquisition will bring consolidation to the highly fragmented UK hosting market, according to a statement by M247. Past acquisitions for M247 have included competitors Red Fox Hosting and Axamba.

“The team at M247 are looking forward to getting to know them and are already standing by to continue providing the very highest levels of customer support that they’ve come to expect from UKWSD,” M247 managing director David Buckle said.

“Having known and worked closely with the team at M247 over the past decade we’re confident that our valued customers are in the very best possible hands and can look forward to many more years of the trouble-free service they’re used to with UKWSD.”
