Internet Central Provides NHS Web Hosting

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW0 — UK ISP and hosting provider Internet Central (www.netcentral.co.uk) announced this week that it had been selected to provide a dedicated hosting solution for the NHS National Prescribing Centre, operated by the Keele University School of Pharmacy.

The National Prescribing Centre (www.npci.org.uk) is a new National Heath Service learning resource, providing information content on prescribing, theraputics and medicine management, laid out as a virtual building.

According to the press release, the School of Pharmacy commissioned Internet Central to conduct a re-evaluation of its hosting services and build a customized hosting package for the project.

Internet Central’s website says the company’s sales and support operations are located on the Keele University science park.

Internet Central will provide a fully managed hosting infrastructure incorporating rack space, power, dedicated bandwidth, a dedicated server, managed firewall and intrusion detection.

“It was important to find a hosting provider that could provide a support package that was focused on both our requirements and the customer and end user requirements. We also needed to guarantee network safety and security while also giving us a personalized service,” says the School of Pharmacy’s IT development director Luke Bracegirdle, quoted in the announcement.
