Intermedia Offers Free WordPress

July 24, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Intermedia (intermedia.net) announced on Monday it is now offering blogging software WordPress to its Web hosting customers as a free monthly service.

Intermedia says the tool enables customers to add blogs to their own Web sites, rather than operate them as subdomains of third-party blogging providers such as Blogger. After a one-time setup fee of $5, Intermedia customers can build fully customized blogs, using WordPress’s advanced features.

“Blogging creates an interactive and consistently updated Web environment that lets businesses draw existing and prospective customers back to their site repeatedly,” says Serguei Sofinski, CEO of Intermedia. “Through the free WordPress software, our customers can now create a page on their existing domain that will grant endless opportunity to relay business messages in new and interesting ways.”

WordPress is fully compliant with W3C standards, and allow blogs to be aesthetically mirrored to the existing company Web site. WordPress also supports all of the features of professional blogs including trackbacks, multiple authors, auto-correct typography and dynamic generation from style sheets. Users have the option of password-protection to control comments to their blog postings.
