Intermedia Adds New Customer Controls to Exchange 2010 Offering

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web host and Microsoft Exchange hosting provider Intermedia (www.intermedia.net) announced on Tuesday that it had launched a set of advanced functions for its hosted Exchange 2010 offering, adding a range of new customer controls.

According to Intermedia, the company was the first provider to launch hosted Exchange 2010. It recently made it possible for partners to resell the application. Intermedia says it remains the only hosted Exchange 2010 provider.

The new features have been added via Intermedia’s HostPilot control panel, which the company says enables users to delegate complex Exchange administration functions – such as deleting data from a lost BlackBerry – to non-technical staff.

Foremost among the new features, says Intermedia are the ability for administrators to restrict whether end users can change settings such as passwords, the ability to set up separate sensitivity levels for handling spam and the ability to create a web hosting account from an Exchange account.

The company also says it is adding recurring commissions to its affiliate program, enabling resellers to choose from a one-time commission or recurring commission model when they sign on. Intermedia says it has also redesigned the affiliate section of HostPilot.

“As the first company to market with hosted Exchange 2010 and the first to offer a hosted Exchange 2010 reseller program, we continue to enhance our offering with proprietary features and management controls,” says Jonathan McCormick, chief operating officer of Intermedia, quoted in the announcement. “These capabilities are exposed in an intuitive way, saving time and simplifying administration of the Exchange environment.”
