November 20, 2001 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Intel Online Services, Inc. (intelonlineservices.com)
r
announced a new automated service technology that extends the company’s
r
managed services capabilities and adds remote management and other
r
productivity improvements. The technology, known as Intel Open Control
r
Technology, gives customers and system integrators shared management and
r
flexible control of e-business solutions, whether they are located in an
r
Intel Online Services data center, a customer data center or other
r
third-party facility.
r
r
The new patent-pending technology has been in development for the last
r
several years at Intel. It includes a controller that allows hardware,
r
operating system, applications, storage and network infrastructure to be
r
managed as a single unit, called a “customer pod.” Intel Online Services
r
manages the operations of that pod and works with the customer to automate
r
routine and administrative tasks, such as repairing, troubleshooting and
r
server provisioning. By utilizing the controller through a secure management
r
Web portal, customers can view the status of their services and manage
r
automated operational tasks.
r
r
“Enterprise customers have varying levels of information technology
r
experience and want to outsource a range of e-business integration,
r
operations and management capabilities without losing control of their
r
business,” said Dalibor Vrsalovic, president of Intel Online Services. “Our
r
automation technology alleviates those fears by putting control back into
r
the hands of the customer without compromising reliability or performance.”
r
r
Intel Open Control Technology is currently being piloted with several
r
customers. The technology is a key ingredient in a new family of AppChoice
r
Managed Services available in the first half of 2002. About Intel Online
r
Services Intel Online Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel
r
Corporation, provides managed Web services for the global enterprise.
