April 29, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Integra Telecom (integratelecom.com) announced Monday that it is providing new services that guard against computer viruses and unsolicited e-mail, or spam. Integra has released spam filtering and virus scanning services for customers with e-mail hosted by Integra.
The Integra virus scanning service is available on a per-domain or per e-mail box basis. The cost is approximately $2 per e-mail box per month. The spam filtering service is available free to all Integra e-mail service subscribers.
According to studies conducted by Ferris Research Inc., unwanted e-mail is increasingly costing corporations significant time and resources to manage. Spam will cost U.S. organizations $9 billion this year, or approximately $10 per worker per month.
“As risk of viruses and exposure to spam continue to grow in volume and complexity, Integra is ensuring its customers have access to the most sophisticated methods of managing e-mail and protecting their networks,” said Ron Ares, director of data services at Integra Telecom. “The new services are a direct result of overwhelming customer support for product development in these areas.”
