Inkra Launches UK Operations

May 19, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Virtualization technology developer Inkra Networks (inkra.com) announced on Tuesday that it is launching its operations in the United Kingdom, where it intends to target the enterprise network security market. Inkra’s flaship product is the virtual service switch, a network management device that virtualizes, consolidates and automates the delivery of networking and security services such as firewall, intrusion prevention and load balancing to constituencies in a data center.

The company has appointed Rob Kelly to head up the UK operation, an industry veteran with 25 years of experience in network system sales in the UK and Europe. Tony Morrish has also joined Inkra as vice president of sales for EMEA. Prior to joining Inkra, Morrish was managing director of EMEA for Juniper Networks.

“Networks protected by perimeter-only defenses can be an easy nut to crack,” says Kelly. “What you actually need is a tough nutshell within another nutshell, and so on and so forth. Deploying a layered defense using physical security appliances, however, has proved prohibitive for almost all businesses due to the sheer cost andcomplexity of buying, managing and maintaining equipment. Inkra’s virtualization technology changes that by consolidating infrastructure and simplifying management. With Inkra, networks can be tough on the inside as well as the outside.”
