InfoNet Picks FiberNet for Expansion

December 1, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — FiberNet Telecom Group (ftgx.com), a provider of managed network services, announced on Wednesday that Infonet Services Corporation (infonet.com), a provider of Internet and telecommunications services, has agreed to purchase optical wavelength services and other comprehensive broadband connectivity solutions to support its network backbone expansion. FiberNet said the provision of these network services will help Infonet extend the reach of its global network.

Under the agreement, FiberNet will supply Infonet with a 2.5 Gigabit wavelength to interconnect its points of presence within major carrier hotels in New York City and New Jersey and distribute and exchange Infonet’s traffic with other carriers within key carrier hotels. In addition, Infonet will use FiberNet’s network construction services to build fiber lateral entrance facilities into its New Jersey network node.

“Infonet has excelled at serving the communications demands of major multinationals, and part of the reason for this success has been choosing the right partners to extend the reach of our own network,” says John Yates, manager of optical infrastructure at Infonet. “The flexibility, rapid provisioning times, and reliability of FiberNet’s wavelength services were key selling points, allowing us to expand our network footprint quickly and efficiently, without unnecessary investment in facilities-based network infrastructure.”
