(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Optical networking system provider Infinera (www.infinera.com) announced on Thursday it has named Ron Martin the company’s vice president of worldwide sales.
The appointment follows last month’s announcement that chairman and CEO Jagdeep Singh will step down as CEO on January 1, 2010, and chief operating officer Tom Fallon will become the company’s new president and CEO.
Martin has 30 years of experience in building and managing large international optical networking businesses.
He joins Infinera’s sales executive team, including Scott Chandler and Howard Lukens.
Most recently, he served in the role of chief marketing and strategy officer at Adva Optical Networking and president of Adva’s North American subsidiary.
Prior to that, Martin served as vice president and general manager of Cisco’s optical business unit.
Martin also held several roles at Fujitsu Network Communications, culminating in the position of chief operating officer.
“Infinera lives and dies by the professionalism and capability of its sales team,” says Infinera CEO Jagdeep Singh. “Based on what our customers tell us, we believe Infinera has the easiest and most transparent sales experience in the industry. We’re thrilled to have Ron on our team to help us as we drive the business forward.”
