Infinera Names VP of Sales for EMEA

Chris Champion, vice president of sales for EMEA at Infinera.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Digital optical communications systems provider Infinera (www.infinera.com) announced on Thursday it has named Chris Champion the company’s vice president of sales for EMEA.

He will be responsible for leading Infinera’s sales activities in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa markets.

The announcement follows Infinera’s appointment in August where the company named Ron Martin the company’s vice president of worldwide sales.

Champion has been with Infinera since 2003, playing a key role in building the company’s European business.

He was integral in securing Infinera’s initial European customers such as Flag Telecom, which now goes by Reliance Globalcom.

He has helped acquire networks by leading Tier One operators including Deutsche Telekom, OTEGLOBE, Telefonica International Wholesale Services, and TeliaSonera, as well as some of Europe’s fastest-growing alternative operators like COLT and Carphone Warehouse Networks.

Infinera recently announced its international revenue reached a new peak in Q3 of 37 percent with success in the EMEA market driving much of that growth.

“I am pleased to announce that Chris Champion has taken on the responsibility of leading our sales effort in Europe, Middle East, and Africa,” says Infinera CEO Jagdeep Singh. “We look forward to his continuing to drive growth and success in these crucial markets.”

Champion has previously served in sales, marketing, and business development roles at Corvis Corporation and Nortel Networks, as well as a telecommunications market research analyst at Yankee Group Europe.
