Infinera Execs Receive Distinctions

November 30, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Optical networking system provider Infinera (infinera.com) announced on Wednesday that its director of advanced optical technologies has been honored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers as an IEEE Fellow.

Dr. Radha Nagarajan was recognized with this distinction for his key role in the development of Infinera’s large-scale photonic integrated circuits. The IEEE Fellow award recognizes unusual distinction and important individual contributions to engineering and can be conferred only by invitation of the board of directors upon a person of outstanding and extraordinary qualifications and experience, says the IEEE.

Infinera’s chief marketing and strategy officer Dr. Dave Welch has also received two industry honors, recognizing his role as a leader and key participant in Infinera’s development of the world’s first commercial large-scale photonic integrated circuits, says the company.

Welch has been elected to the board of directors of the Optical Society of America and like Nagarajan, was also named a Fellow of the IEEE for his contributions to semiconductor lasers and photonic integrated circuits.

Earlier this month, Infinera’s chief technology officer Drew Perkins was elected to the Internet2 Research Advisory Council.
