India Data Center Market worth $100M

December 8, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Security vendor Symantec (symantec.com) says the Indian data center market can be worth $100 million and could reach close to $200 million by 2009, according to reports.

Symantec’s group president for data center management, Kris Hagerman, says the Indian market is growing at a compounded annual rate of 21 percent. He believes the complexity of managed data centers and diverse environments are two major customer concerns, which Symantec could address with its new solutions.

Veritas Application Director and Veritas Patch Manager are solutions Hagerman says can build a solid data center foundation.

The former is considered to be the industry’s only solution for maximizing server utilization and application availability across multi-tiered applications among heterogeneous physical and virtual environments. While Patch Manager offers patch management and distribution function to existing operating systems and application provisioning capabilities.

The company currently houses 800 out of its 2000 employees in the Data Center Group in Pune, India.
