(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Application data security provider Imperva (www.imperva.com) announced this week it saw a significant increase in business in 2008, adding over 300 new customers, as well as signed employee performance management applications provider SuccessFactors (www.successfactors.com) as a customer.
The company recently named Henk Jan Spanjaard as vice president of sales for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.According to the press release, the addition of 300 new customers has contributed to a “33 percent headcount growth,” bringing its customer base to well over 700.
Imperva says it has also nearly doubled the number of organizations protected by its products from 2,500 to 4,500.
“Our results in 2008 demonstrate that Imperva’s vision for protecting data from the application through to the database has tapped a deep and significant vein that spans multiple vertical markets worldwide,” says Shlomo Kramer, CEO of Imperva. “Data breaches, regulatory compliance requirements, and tightening data security legislation all fuelled our growth last year. In the current downturn, threats from both outsiders and insiders have increased. More than ever, organizations recognize that data security is a ‘must have’ not only for compliance, but for business continuity and protecting the value of their brand.”
Aside from revenue and customer growth, the company also notes that it has reached many milestones in terms of technological achievements.
In 2008, the company released SecureSphere Standard Edition, offering enterprise-class web application security for mid-market organizations, and added Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese language support to SecureSphere to meet its market demands in the Asia Pacific region.
During the year, the company also introduced its new partner enablement and incentive program PartnerSphere, expanded sales into Federal Government market with FIPS compliance; and finally, and received ICSA Labs certification for SecureSphere Web Application Firewall.
Imperva also announced that cloud-based employee performance management applications provider SuccessFactors has deployed SecureSphere to protect its software as a service application and the sensitive human resources data it processes.
The company is using SecureSphere’s integrated Application Firewall and database security gateway capabilities.
SuccessFactors says it provides SaaS based suite of HR performance and talent management applications to over 2,300 customers, which in turn serve 4 million users in 185 countries.
