IFL Hosts Cogent at Manchester Site

March 11, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Colocation service provider Internet Facilitators Limited (internetf.co.uk) announced on Tuesday has signed a multi-year contract to host critical network infrastructure for Internet service provider Cogent Communications (cogentco.com) within its IFL2 Manchester, UK data center.

IFL is hosting Cogent’s equipment within its latest 15,000 square feet IFL2 data center, which includes rack space within a secure caged environment with dual power supplies. The facility is protected by high capacity N+1, environmentally friendly and energy efficient infrastructure, says the company.

Consistently ranked as one of the top five networks in the world, Cogent says it offers Internet access and data transport services over an 80-180 Gbps fiber optic, IP data-only network. The company’s network carries over 10 Petabytes per day across its network, with one of the highest capacity IP networks in existence.

Now hosted at IFL, Cogent’s network enables the company to offer large bandwidth connections at cost-effective prices to IFL customers and other businesses in the area seeking Tier 1 connectivity, reduced bandwidth pricing and data center solutions.  “The IFL standard of facility and infrastructure complements our own uncompromising approach to quality, uptime guarantees and resilient delivery of service,” says Dave Schaeffer, CEO at Cogent. “IFL’s plans for data centre expansion further enhance the opportunity for Cogent to continue to expand its footprint while remaining one of the most cost-effective providers of bandwidth in the world.”
