IFL Begins Work On Third Manchester Data Center

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Further extending capacity in England’s North West region, regional data center provider Internet Facilitators Limited (www.internetf.co.uk) has begun work on its third Data center in Manchester.

According to the Monday announcement, “Manchester 3″ is situated in a prime Manchester location near the new “Media City” development. It will support the expansion of existing clients, and allow more clients in the North West to access true business class data center facilities.

The multi-million dollar, state of the art colocation facility will provide 22,000 square feet of technical space accommodating up to 1,000 racks with IT power to an average of 4.5KW per rack IFL, in hot and cold aisle containment configurations. There will also be a further 17,000 square feet of serviced office space, build areas, client rest rooms and shared NOC areas where clients can connect to their rack space.

Manchester 3 will be built to Tier 3 standards with the minimum specification including n+1 UPS systems and n+1 diesel generators, and higher specifications available to anchor tenants taking space during the build out phase. Using environmentally intelligent technology IFL aims to deliver the most efficient colocation facilities in the market.

IFL account director Matthew Edgley said the company is confident that it will be the highest quality and most technologically advanced data center in the region. “Implementing pioneering ‘free cooling’ technology will allow us to maximise our energy efficiency, making the facility instantly attractive to clients with environmental concerns and committed to reducing their carbon footprint,” he stated. “We are currently in talks with a number of potential anchor tenants for whom we can meet particular specifications during the build out phase. We anticipate that interest will come from our traditional client base of North West based IT services players and from businesses with a more regional focus looking for high quality local data center space. We also expect interest from our growing list of clients looking for expansion space.”

Founded in 1997, IFL has grown to become the largest regional data center provider in the North West, and its latest data center will mark an important next step in the development of the company and pave the way for further development in other regions of the UK. IFL’s regional data center expansion program will involve expansion into several cities throughout the UK.

Manchester 3 is set to fully open in the second quarter of 2011, delivering high quality rack space for clients with requirements ranging from a single rack to more than 100 racks. Being carrier neutral, like all IFL data centers, the facility will offer a range of connectivity solutions from many major telecommunications and network providers.
