ICI Chooses AT&T Managed Services

December 17, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Telecommunications provider AT&T (att.com) announced on Monday that coatings, adhesives, starch and synthetic polymers manufacturer ICI (ici.com) has selected AT&T to provide enhanced managed security services across its global network.

ICI is currently implementing AT&T’s managed Web-filtering service as part of an overall program designed to improve levels of security across the organization. AT&T’s Web security service protects users from accessing inappropriate Internet websites, as well as blocks users from any malware that they may get from legitimate sites that have become corrupted. The service includes Web-filtering, virus-scanning and spyware-screening. ”ICI is taking a proactive approach to increase levels of network security across the organization globally,” says Paul Simmonds, global information security director at ICI. “Once this initial phase of deployment is complete, we will be looking to extend the protection to laptop users working directly on the Internet.” The agreement is an extension of the two companies’ existing relationship, in which AT&T has provided multiprotocol label switching-based network services to ICI since 2003. AT&T also provides ICI with an Internet-based virtual private network that connects its 324 locations around the globe.
