IBM Named Application Hosting Leader

March 2, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- IBM (ibm.com) leads the application hosting market, according to a recent report published by the Yankee Group (yankeegroup.com), a technology research and analysis firm.

According to the report, more than 80 percent of IBM's new small and medium-sized business customers signed on to IBM as application hosting customers. This demand, the report found, can be attributed to the cost benefits and reduced operational risk of the application hosting model.

"IBM is very pleased to be recognized by Yankee Group for our leadership in application hosting services," says Jim Corgel, general manager of e-business hosting services at IBM. "The latest figures from Yankee Group clearlyindicate that IBM's e-business hosting services are winning in the marketplace and we continue to grow our offerings to meet the demands of customers, provide them with a competitive advantage and transform theminto on demand businesses."
