March 21, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — IBM today announced the opening of a new disaster recovery center in Anjou, Quebec designed to help companies in the event of a breakdown. The first facility in Quebec to offer such a wide range of services, IBM?s Business Continuity and Recovery Center includes access to powerful back-up servers, high-speed connections and connection facilities for mobile back-up units.

The Anjou facility joins three other local access centers already operating across Canada, and 15 similar centers throughout North America. With more than 100 workstations, the new IBM Center provides connections to IBM’s major recovery center in Toronto, where a multitude of midsize and large servers (client-servers) are located.
At par with the IBM e-business Hosting Center, which opened in Montreal in May 2001, the Anjou Center offers a redundant power supply with uninterruptible power system (UPS), a backup generator, and additional generator connection panels. The Continuity and Recovery Center features built-in flexible telephony capacity, pre-installed local area network (LAN) technology, active security systems, and 24/7 system support.
Serti Informatique, a long-standing IBM Business Partner, has agreed to take responsibility for active monitoring of the facilities.
