(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Canada’s largest wireless carrier and cable provider, Rogers Communications (www.rogers.com), has awarded a seven-year IT service and support contract to IBM (www.ibm.com), giving Rogers immediate access to IBM’s state-of-the-art data center located outside of Toronto.
According to IBM’s announcement, which coincided with the Canadian Telecom Summit in Toronto, IBM will support Rogers’ ongoing information technology transformation with a stable and highly available IT environment to accommodate future growth. IBM’s data center will be linked to Rogers’ existing facility using Rogers Business Services networking technology. IBM will also be upgrading Rogers’ existing facilities and storage capabilities over the next several years.
“IBM is committed to supporting Rogers through the delivery of cost-effective and flexible services, as well as through access to IBM’s technology innovation,” said IBM Canada global technology services general manager Saad Toma.
IBM is one of the global telecom industry’s largest technology and services suppliers, counting more than 90 per cent of the world’s communications service providers as clients.
This agreement represents a new business relationship for the two companies.
