IBM Smart Business Development & Test on the IBM Cloud lets enterprises expand and enhance their internal development and test processes using IBM's infrastructure.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In an effort to better serve development teams, IBM (www.ibm.com) has expanded its Smart Business Development & Test on the IBM Cloud, adding support for Windows platforms and other new enhancements.
Announced earlier this year, the IBM Smart Business Development & Test on the IBM Cloud, which enabled enterprise clients to expand and enhance their internal development and test processes using IBM’s infrastructure. According to its Thursday announcement, the multi-tenant open cloud now includes support for Microsoft Windows 2003 and 2008 Data Center Editions.
IBM said it is extending its development environment to help more enterprise developers to take advantage of the cloud for development and testing, which will increase in importance given that a recent poll of developers found that cloud computing and mobile are expected to emerge over the next five years as the most in-demand platforms for software application development and IT delivery.
In addressing this need, IBM has added a variety of resources for Smart Business Development & Test users including additional performance and resiliency to help developers rapidly configure environments and easily share them across development teams for more consistent application deployment.
As well, they can assign multiple internet protocol addresses to a single virtual instance, so they can implement security zones and enhance availability in the IBM Cloud. They can also attach combinations of storage sizes to a virtual instance at the time of provisioning for higher performance and resiliency.
IBM is also integrating the development and test environment, with new software and services, enabling developers to improve the quality and speed of their applications over their life cycle.
One of these services is IBM Testing Services for Cloud , which brings together automation and performance testing tools to identify defects earlier in the cycle where they are less expensive to fix, and eliminate performance-related bottlenecks. This performance testing application, IBM said, can help significantly reduce time by as much as 50 percent.
Another intriguing service available is a technical preview of IBM Rational Load Testing on the IBM Cloud, which helps address issues with infrastructure acquisition, maintenance and configuration for large-scale performance testing. It lets users automatically provision virtual test agents and generate virtual users on IBM Smart Business Development and Test on the IBM Cloud on a pay-as-you-go basis, significantly reducing infrastructure, software and test set up costs.
Smart Business Development & Test on the IBM Cloud is now available in North America and Europe with the Raleigh, North Carolina, USA and Ehningen, Germany data centers supporting the IBM clouds.
