Hurricane Reaches 500 Network Mark

April 7, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Internet backbone and colocation provider Hurricane Electric (he.net) announced on Friday that it has established peering relationships with over five hundred unique Internet networks worldwide and has over 1,200 live BGP peering sessions.

Each unique network Hurricane Electric peers with represents direct connectivity between its network, including its customers, and each peer’s network and its customers. The collocation providerÂ’s peering relationships help improve the speed and throughput of data between its network and its peers’ networks in both directions.

Hurricane Electric was recently named one of the top ten Internet networks in the world by FixedOrbitÂ’s (fixedorbit.com) Knodes Index, a list of the top ten networks in the world as measured by connectivity to the rest of the Internet.

“As a part of our ongoing commitment to improving our network connectivity, we are actively working on developing even more mutually beneficial peering relationships with different networks around the world,” says Mike Leber, Hurricane Electric president.
