Hurricane Electric Establishes PoP at Phoenix NAP Data Center

Phoenix NAP's 160,000-square-foot data center.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator Phoenix NAP (www.phoenixnap.com) announced on Tuesday that colocation provider and Internet backbone carrier Hurricane Electric (www.he.com) has established a point-of-presence within the Phoenix NAP facility.

Phoenix NAP opened its 160,000 square foot facility in June with about 15 percent of its 45,000 square foot first phase occupied by customers.

“Having Hurricane Electric operate a PoP out of our facility presents a tremendous opportunity for area and regional businesses to obtain quality connectivity solutions,” says Ian McClarty, president of Phoenix NAP. “Featuring one of the top ranked international Internet backbones in the world, Hurricane Electric can help our clients meet their transit needs, and we’re happy to have them in our data center.”

Hurricane Electric offers IPv4 and IPv6 transit solutions over the same connection, at speeds up to 10 Gbps or more.

In November, Hurricane Electric doubled the reach of its IPv6 network in less than a year, making it the first network in the world to connect to more than 600 IPv6 networks.

The company has its own global network, equipped with 45 major exchange points that connect to more than 1,500 different networks.

Using resilient fiber topology, Hurricane Electric has at least four redundant paths crossing the United States, two separate paths between the US and Europe, and rings in Europe and Asia.

As a network access point, Phoenix NAP strives to offer its customers a wide range of network connectivity solutions.

Phoenix NAP customers can select whichever options best meets their needs, and can either work directly with a provider, such as Hurricane Electric, or with Phoenix NAP’s carrier neutral sales staff to get service.
