HP Strengthens and Unifies Security Product Portfolio

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In an effort to reduce customer infrastructure risks, technology provider Hewlett-Packard (www.hp.com) has introduced a variety of newsecurity services and solutions that offer improved vulnerability assessment, data protection and compliance controls.

According to its Monday announcement, new services and solutions in the HP Secure Advantage (www.hp.com/go/security) portfolio help customers establish a comprehensive security strategy across their enterprise and/or cloud. HP has consolidated its broadened portfolio, extensive expertise and strong partner ecosystem to provide a single source to meet security needs ranging from threats to ongoing regulatory pressure, thereby reducing organizations’ complexity, risks and costs.

While some of the solutions are aimed at securing desktop systems and printers, enterprise and web hosting system administrators will be interested in some of the complex compliance regulation and validation compliance features.

The HP Business Service Automation Essentials Network provides ease of management and reporting of the latest regulatory compliance standards all within a single dashboard. The Security Content Automation Protocol certification improves compliance report communication, allowing customers to view the current state of compliance electronically on managed devices, and more confidently share reports with auditors.

Nina Lytton, president of IT consultancy Open Systems Advisors (www.crossroads-osa.com), said that businesses and governments should collaborate to deal with governance requirements and increasingly sophisticated malicious attacks. “Chief security officers continue to look for one vendor with the breadth to integrate security and make it seamless,” Lytton said in a statement. “As a pioneer in information security for over 40 years, HP is well-equipped with its expanded portfolio to enable customers to safeguard their complete domain.”

As well, HP Enterprise Secure Key Manager reduces the risk of exposure and sensitive data loss with simplified management, enabling customers to enforce the necessary policies to meet information security mandates, and provide consistent, unified management of encryption keys across the technology infrastructure. It also supports a spectrum of encryption offerings, from storage to databases, using common client services and cryptographic standards.

“Chief security officers are looking to reduce the complexity of securing their entire enterprise as the industry evolves to include new computing models, like cloud, as well as more sophisticated, traditional technologies,” HP Secure Advantage chief strategist Chris Whitener said in a statement. “HP Secure Advantage simplifies the process, delivering a comprehensive set of product and service solutions while offering a single point of contact to meet an organization’s diverse security needs.”
