Gauvin left recently acquired Hostworks to pursue new business opportunities.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — A decade after founding managed hosting provider Hostworks (www.hostworks.com.au), Australian entrepreneur Marty Gauvin has left the company after successfully overseeing its acquisition by Broadcast Australia (www.broadcastaustralia.com.au).
According to Hostworks’ Wednesday announcement, Gauvin’s immediate inclination is to start a new business, which he will do while maintaining his participation at not-for-profit organisations and fulfilling public speaking engagements. He said moving on from Hostworks was a logical progression in his professional development.
“I’m confident I leave Hostworks in good hands, with a strong management team and an excellent track record in terms of customer care and support,” Gauvin said in a statement.
The new management, Broadcast Australia owns and operates the most extensive multimedia transmission infrastructure in Australia, delivering a range of critical communications services. It is also a wholly-owned subsidiary of Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group (www.macquarie.com.au).
Specializing in managing critical online applications for major businesses throughout the Asia-Pacific region, Hostworks entered an acquisition agreement with Broadcast Australia in December 2007, with the sale going through in early 2008.
As Hostworks’ managing director, Gauvin developed an extensive business network for the company and gained expert knowledge and a credible reputation in the industry in the process.
“I’m proud of the work that has gone into making Hostworks the company that it is today – and I thank all the folk who have made that journey with me since our humble beginnings in Rundle Street,” Gauvin said. “I personally enjoy overcoming business challenges and independently growing companies. While operating a business within BA offers huge opportunities from the point of view of resources and scale, it’s not for me. I intend to move fairly quickly into investigating what kind of business I’d like to start next. Starting up new companies is what I do best.”
During the past eight years, Gauvin has been involved in a range of government innovation programs, including membership in Innovation Australia’s Venture Capital and COMET committees. He was also a member of the collaboration working group that contributed to the review of the National Innovation System. Gauvin is also actively involved with the Inspire Foundation (www.inspire.org.au), a not-for-profit service that delivers online programs to prevent youth suicide and improve youth mental health and well being.
