Parallels and Hostway partnered in February. FlexCloud will be just the first of several offerings from Hostway available in the Parallels ecosystem.
FlexCloud Server features include fully redundant host, network and storage hardware, automated failover of instances, and enterprise-class Storage Area Networks.
Hostway is a Microsoft Gold Certified Hosting Partner, and users can automate, customize, access, manage, and resell cloud services with the FlexCloud Server OpenStack-compatible API.
Resellers can offer advanced enterprise-class features such as user-configurable firewalls and load balancing, IP address management, image cloning and snapshots, and managed backup.
“In the rapidly evolving cloud services market, collaboration is the key to success. We’re thrilled to work with an industry leader like Parallels to give partners new ways to customize, bundle and seamlessly deliver the cloud applications and scalable infrastructure solutions customers demand,” Todd Benjamin, Vice President of Hosted Services for Hostway said in a statement. “By enabling delivery of cloud services in a Parallels environment, Hostway provides ecosystem partners with a low risk, quick-to-market path to leverage their own channels to grow their businesses and offer an end-to-end solution.”
IaaS generated the majority of revenue in the burgeoning cloud market in 2012 according to a 451 Research report last month. Earlier in the year a report from Gartner also predicted huge growth in the global IaaS market.
The partnership with Hostway follows close on the heels of Parallels’ announcement of a partnership to offer Microsoft’s Azure PaaS and related services, as well as the launch of Plesk Panel 11.5 and Web Presence Builder 11.5.
By partnering with Parallels, Hostway hopes to increase its share of a cloud services market which its own research shows to be in high demand.
Future cloud service partnership offerings under consideration include unified email and collaboration platform services, ecommerce hosting plans, and cost-effective Virtual Private Servers.
