March 9, 2006 — (WEB HOT INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting and managed service provider Hostway (hostway.com) announced on Thursday that it has started accepting nominations today for its fourth annual “High School Web Site Designers of the Future” contest. The contest, open to all high school students in the Chicago area, is co-sponsored by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley’s council of technology advisors.

“We’re proud of the job our schools have done in keeping pace with technology and preparing students for success in a technology-dominated world,” says Chris O’Brien, CIO of the city of Chicago and co-chair of Mayor Daley’s council of technology advisors. “This contest reflects our high school students’ achievements, and recognizes the talents they have developed.”

Contestants may submit entries through to May 8, and winners will be selected May 22. This year’s grand prize winner will receive $1,000 scholarship and a Dell laptop. The first runner up will receive a $500 scholarship and a Dell laptop and the second runner up a $500 scholarship.

The student contestant Web sites will be judge on criteria such as content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality and success. The contest will be judge by a panel comprised of representatives of the Mayor’s Council of Technology Advisors, Junior Achievement Chicago and Hostway.
