October 17, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Hostway (hostway.com) said on Monday that it had partnered with CardinalCommerce (cardinalcommerce.com) to offer online fraud protection for customers using the Hostway Merchant Manager shopping cart.
CardinalCommerce will provide Hostway with Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode, programs that offer added protection to enrolled Visa and MasterCard cardholders by requiring them to enter a password or pin when making online purchases with participating merchants.
Customers can sign-up free of charge. When they join, their credit cards number, even if stolen, cannot be used fraudulently on participating sites. Merchants will benefit from reduced chargeback rates, Hostway says.
