Hostway Acquires Server Service GmbH

May 10, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Hosting ZOOM (hostingzoom.com) announced on Tuesday that it had deployed RAID 1 disk configurations on all its new servers in order to maintain data integrity and maximize performance.

RAID 1 ensures that all data is duplicated on pairs of disks simultaneously, says Hosting ZOOM, ensuring that the server can switch to the other in the event of a hard drive failure with no interruption in service.

The company says it opted for RAID 1 technology for performance reasons as well. If multiple requests for the same data are made, demand can be distributed between two disk copies, decreasing response times for data access.

“Highly available, performance oriented and reliable servers have become a necessity for any online business,” says Kiet Duong, president of Hosting ZOOM. “RAID provides our clients with complete redundancy and the ability to recover from the inevitable hard drive failure without any downtime.”
