June 11, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Hostopia (hostopia.com) today unveiled a price reduction for its E-mail Anti-Virus service. The newly suggested list price is $4.99 per month for up to ten e-mail boxes.

E-mail Anti-Virus is a value added service that bundles with hosting plans, protecting up to ten e-mail users from e-mail borne viruses, worms and trojan horses.

“Even at our previous, higher pricing, our hosting partners were typically able to capture 3-5 percent of their hosting base for this billable service. We fully expect the aggressive new price to drive correspondingly higher sales numbers,” said Paul Engels, vice president, marketing for Hostopia.

According to the company, Hostopia partners typically earn from 50-65 percent gross margin on the popular service.

In conjunction with the announcement, Hostopia also launched an incentive program to its base of over 250 private label hosting service partners. All new users that sign-up between between June 11 and August 30, 2003 will receive free use of E-mail Anti-Virus. “For three months, our partners can sell this service for $4.99 per hosted domain per month and pocket 100% of the revenue at pure margin,? said Engels. ?The incentive is to launch the service and promote it.?
