Today in Shanghai, China is the first annual “ResellerClub presents HostingCon.” HostingCon is the premier conference and educational event for hosting and cloud providers. In November 2013, it partnered with ResellerClub to bring its North American event to China, India and Europe.
Thursday morning began with a presentation by keynote speaker Shridhar Luthria, general manager and business head of ResellerClub. He highlighted the exciting future of the Chinese domain and web hosting market. Today, there are 16 million registered domains in China.
ResellerClub expects this to grow to more than 66 million registered domains in 2018. Luthria said this will translate into 26.4 million hosted websites in China in 2018. Combined, he believes that the domain and website market will represent 100 billion Chinese yuan in annual revenue in 2018, which provides a huge opportunity for hosting and cloud service providers in China.
Sessions on day one of the two-day conference were presented by leaders in the Chinese cloud and hosting industry. There were more than 350 attendees the first day of the conference.
Presenters included Song Zheng, president of iCANN China, Toa Charm, founder, Hong Kong Computer Society, Lihui Wang, security specialist, Alibaba, and Edmond Chung, CEO of .ASIA.
Exhibitors engaged with industry executives and other attendees interested in learning about cloud and web services. Exhibitors include Microsoft, Radix, Verisign, SoftLayer and cPanel, among others.
“SoftLayer is very pleased to be a partner for HostingCon China. We are looking forward to an interactive couple of days with companies who are looking to leverage the full power of infrastructure on the cloud while accessing a global network capabilities of 13 data centers,” Namrata Kapur, regional marketing manager, Softlayer said. “We also have a very strong reseller and referral partner program and help companies host their solutions on a global cloud platform.”
HostingCon has been held in the United States for the last 9 years and provides the highest quality educational sessions at its conference. It has a reputation for community-driven, vendor-neutral programming, and valuable networking opportunities.
“The partnership allows us to bring the HostingCon experience to new, high-growth markets,” Troy Augustine, President and CEO of iNET Interactive said. “By partnering with ResellerClub, we can enter these markets with a very strong attendee base and a program that respects the market and cultural differences in each location.”

“We are extremely excited about this partnership,” Shridhar Luthria, business head for ResellerClub said. “We’ve had great success with the ResellerClub Hosting Summit. This partnership allows us to build on that success and take the event to a whole new level under the HostingCon brand.”
