This week HostingCon held its 10th annual event in Miami Beach, Florida. Over 1100 attendees from all over the world came together at the Miami Convention Center to experience networking, educational sessions and the exhibition floorAccording to HostingCon website, “The mission of HostingCon is to provide essential industry knowledge and intelligence in an unbiased platform. It is the only North American event that is designed completely to serve the good of the hosting and cloud community.” This year 65 percent of the attendees were executive management.
The conference keynote was delivered by Chip Bell who discussed innovative service as a way to distinguish a business in a highly competitive industry. Other sessions of note included a panel focused on the NSA/privacy issues put together by the i2Coalition and a security panel moderated by Jeffrey Lyon, CEO of Black Lotus.
In addition to the official conference 10 year anniversary party, there were several events sponsored by participating companies. SoftLayer had a big party at Mynt Lounge, Phoenix NAP sponsored a pub crawl Sunday evening, cPanel and WHMCS had a party at Nikki Beach and the WHIR had a networking event at the Clevelander among others. All of the events were very well attended and resulted in lots of great after hours networking.
Next year HostingCon will be held in San Diego, CA July 27-29th at at the San Diego Convention Center.
