HOSTING announced on Wednesday morning via its status page that its Newark data center suffered a storage failure at 7:45 am ET which caused a number of CloudVPS accounts to stop working.
By 11:13 am ET, HOSTING started to execute a failover plan to a secondary storage device. “No VMs are online that are attached to the current Nexenta device at this time,” HOSTING’s status page said.
HOSTING is keeping customers updated on its status page with an update every thirty minutes, as well as on Twitter @HDCOps. Its latest tweet, around 11:35 am ET, said it is starting to power on VMs that were affected by the outage.
Recently, an independent study by Cloud Spectator found HOSTING to perform 67 percent greater than Rackspace and 167 percent greater than Amazon in overall system performance using Windows.
The WHIR has reached out to HOSTING for more detail and will update this story with more information once we hear back.
