Hosting.com SF Facility Goes Green

February 15, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Hosting.com (hosting.com) announced on Friday that its San Francisco, California data center is now climate neutral. The company says the amount of carbon the facility will be neutralizing is equal to not burning 260,000 gallons of gasoline a year.

Hosting.com is involved in many green initiatives, including green power, energy efficient data center design and enterprise virtualization solutions. The company also covers the cost of climate neutrality for all of its employees’ homes.

“One of our major corporate responsibility initiatives for 2008 is environmentally friendly energy use,” says Darren King, Hosting.com president and CEO. “We believe all companies have an obligation to protect our environment with proactive measures today rather than sitting around and debating whether global warming has or has not happened. Green power is readily available today, and large power consumers like data center providers owe it to themselves and future generations to explore these opportunities to make positive change.”

Hosting.com announced last month it attained SAS 70 Type II certification for the second year in a row at its Irvine, California and Louisville, Kentucky locations.
