(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Hosting.com (www.hosting.com) announced on Wednesday it has released its 2009 Cloud Computing Trends Report.
The study provides insight into the expectations businesses have of cloud computing, their intended uses, reasons for adopting, and expected time-frames for implementing cloud-based solutions.
The findings are based on data the web host collected over a five-week period by conducting an open survey targeting 600 company executives and IT professionals.
One of the key findings of the report is that the factors for investing in cloud computing were similar regardless of company size, including reduced costs, uptime, scalability and performance, adoption rates are not impacted by company size.
The report also proved that services providers must overcome the main of obstacles of security and administration/support, and the cloud computing usage is greater among small businesses.
“Compared with previously published Cloud Computing research, our survey illustrates a shift in SMB utilization and consumer adoption in just the last 6 months,” says Aaron Hollobaugh, Hosting.com director of communications. “The survey results confirm our intent when we created CloudNine. We architected a solution that is robust and secure enough to support the world’s largest companies, while keeping in mind the masses that will adopt the solution most — small and medium businesses.”
The survey can be downloaded online at 2009 Cloud Computing Trends Report.
Also released this week, a study conducted by Kelton Research on behalf of Avanade revealed that more Canadian IT managers have adopted cloud computing and are more informed about the technology than the rest of the world.
