(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Managed hosting, cloud hosting and colocation solutions provider Hosting.com (www.hosting.com) has announced the general availability of its Server Replication solution, which provides customers the ability to have a replicated virtual copy of their critical data in a secondary Hosting.com data center.
According to its announcement, Server Replication provides Hosting.com cloud and dedicated customers a solution that keeps their business running with immediate remote operational capabilities and complete data protection in the case of a disaster. Importantly, Server Replication delivers enterprise-class continuous availability for businesses that require a regulatory compliant, automated failover and disaster recovery solution.
With SAS 70 Type II certified data centers in Irvine, CA; Louisville, KY; Newark, DE; San Francisco, CA; and Denver, CO, Hosting.com boasts a geographically-dispersed network and converged cloud infrastructure that provides customers enterprise-class disaster recovery solutions and fault tolerance, eliminating single points of failure for cloud and dedicated hosting customers.
“As we continue to meet the requirements of the mid-level enterprise, we are seeing an increasing need for services that provide affordable disaster recovery and data protection solutions,” Hosting.com server replication product manager Rebecca Baum said in a statement. “Increasingly, organizations demand connected cloud infrastructures across multiple geographies to ensure uninterrupted application availability and profitability.”
Server Replication allows customers to achieve a Recovery Time Objective of 15 minutes or less and Recovery Point Objective of five minutes. In the event of a system interruption or failure, the replica automatically and seamlessly engages, ensuring continued access to applications and data.
According to VMware (www.vmware.com) cloud solutions director Jian Zhen, Hosting.com’s Server Replication solution stems from VMware’s vCloud Initiative, which it launched in September 2008 to find ways for customers to leverage public and private clouds in an integrated and compatible manner. “Providing customers with the ability to replicate their virtual machines to a secondary Hosting.com data center for disaster recovery and business continuity requirements is an ideal use case for cloud computing,” he stated.
Hosting.com will be hosting a webinar, “Prepare for the Unexpected with Cost-effective Disaster Recovery Solutions,” on March 30, in which representatives will explain how Server Replication provides automatic failover, data protection and regulatory compliance for mission-critical applications.
