(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — According to security and analytics provider Netcraft (www.netcraft.com) in its monthly survey of web hosting sites, Hosting 4 Less (www.hosting4less.com) and Server Intellect (www.serverintellect.com) had the most reliable hosting company sites in September 2009, both managing to respond to every request made by Netcraft’s globally distributed performance monitors.
Netcraft’s September hosting company site reliability report measured the response times of fifty leading hosting providers’ sites at fifteen minute intervals from separate points around the Internet, averaging the results over the immediately preceding 24 hour period. Netcraft said the percentage of failed requests is more important to customers than shortest periods of outage because it gives a pointer to the reliability of their routing.
September marked Server Intellect’s second consecutive month as one of the most reliable hosting company sites. Powered by ASP.NET and IIS 7.0 on Windows Server 2008. Hosting 4 Less shared first place with Server Intellect, using the Apache web server on Linux to run its main site.
One of the top hosting company sites in August, DataPipe (www.datapipe.net) narrowly missed out on first place in September. DataPipe has placed in the top-ten five times in the past six months, and placed first three times.
Three of September’s top ten hosting companies used Linux, down from four last month, evening the score with FreeBSD, which appeared three times this month by Pair Networks (www.pair.com), DataPipe (www.datapipe.net), and New York Internet (www.nyi.net). Netcetera (www.netcetera.co.uk) is still using Windows Server 2003, while green.ch (www.green.ch) uses an F5 BIG-IP device.
