October 22, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider HostDime (www.hostdime.com) announced on Wednesday it has entered the Colombian hosting market with its acquisition of South American Internet services provider GrupoDW.
HostDime has rolled the operational assets of GrupoDW into a new, wholly owned subsidiary, HostDime Colombia (http://hostdime.com.co).
The acquisition includes all of GrupoDW’s operational assets, including all clients, employees, creative materials, leases, and a range of network and server hardware. The addition of GrupoDW brings HostDime’s international workforce to a total of more than 100, with 25 percent being multilingual.
The Colombian market provides a significant growth opportunity for HostDime. As of March 2008, there were only 14 million Internet users in the country — merely 30 percent of Colombia’s population — leaving a large, untapped market space available for HostDime’s expansion.
HostDime will financethe GrupoDW acquisition entirely through operational revenue. The company says it hopes to “meet ambitious growth objectives by specializing its international operations on the local community, and creating dynamic service offerings that best meet the needs of local businesses and individuals.”
More specifically, HostDime will accept payments in the local currency and offer customer support from representatives native to the region.
“Entering the Colombian market allows us to fulfill a variety of strategic goals, including the addition of skilled bilingual employees and a practical springboard for future growth in Latin America,” says Emmanuel Vivar, HostDime CEO. “Doing business in foreign countries is never ‘plug and play,’ but we have studied the market and moved carefully to ensure we grow intelligently.”
HostDime has international offices in Guadalajara, Mexico (HostDime Mexico), Haifa, Isreal (HostDime Israel), and Joao Pessoa, Brazil (HostDime Brazil). The company’s headquarters are in Orlando, Florida.
HostDime provides a range of managed hosting services suitable for entry-level to enterprise-level companies. In the press release, the company says it is currently ranked among the “top 50 hosts in the world with more than 3,000 servers, and hosting over 500,000 domains.”
