(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Host.net (www.host.net) announced on Tuesday it has expanded its multinational network infrastructure services to the Jacksonville, Florida market by adding a new Point of Presence.
The new POP will let local businesses connect with branch offices in nearly 50 other US cities in 18 states via layer 2 Ethernet.
The service enables high-speed data, voice over IP and video connectivity between any number of offices over Host.net’s 10 GB fiber optic backbone, as well as gives Jacksonville businesses access to the company’s full range of other services.
“Jacksonville has been on our road map for a long time because many of our existing customers have offices there,” says Jeffrey Davis, co-founder and CEO of Host.net. “They have been asking us to add Jacksonville to their wide area networks through Metro Ethernet connectivity. Now we offer that capability. This allows us not only to meet the needs of our current customer base but also to provide new clients in Jacksonville with a robust set of mission-critical connectivity and data protection services.”
In addition to its POP locations, Host.net maintains data centers in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta, as well as offers data transport and other services throughout the US, London, Frankfort, Amsterdam, Paris and other European cities.
The company’s new cloud computing service, which it introduced earlier this month after acquiring the solution from Fairway Consulting Group, gives organizations the option to outsource the management of mission-critical applications to Host.net without making a capital investment in their own servers.
Host.net provides a range of network infrastructure services, including colocation, cloud computing, and network transport and transit for enterprise, government, educational, medical and wholesale carrier customers.
With multiple data centers totaling nearly 45,000 square feet of enterprise-class space, Host.net serves customers in most major metropolitan regions of North America as well as parts of Europe.
