(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Extending its colocation footprint in South Florida, colocation, network transport and transit services provider Host.net (www.host.net) has acquired a 12,000 square foot, Fort Lauderdale data center previously run by Hostway (www.hostway.com) and its affiliates, Affinity Internet (www.affinity.com) and ValueWeb (www.valueweb.com).
Host.net will get both the facility and the colocation customers of its former owners, according to the company’s Monday announcement. Host.net will renovate the newly acquired facility, adding more than 40 Gigabit per second Internet and transport connectivity, as well as increasing its cooling and electrical capacity. The facility already boasts diverse conduit and fiber entrance facilities from carriers such as FiberLight, AT&T, Level 3, tw telecom and FPL FiberNet.
“Customers and partners have been asking Host.net to consider opening a Ft. Lauderdale facility to provide additional geographic diversity and business solutions, which is in line with the company’s long-term strategic plan,” Host.net chief marketing officer Lenny Chesal said in a statement. “Our success in partnering with clients combined with a truly local service philosophy has enabled us to extend a customer-focused team and service mentality to the South Florida market.”
Host.net co-founder and chief executive officer Jeffrey Davis said moving into Ft. Lauderdale reflects the Boca Raton, Florida-based company’s strategy to expand in its existing markets to better address customer needs. “Our team has done a wonderful job of delivering a disciplined local service-driven business model, while deepening our footprint and service delivery capabilities,” Davis said in a statement. “As a result, we have achieved significant scale without diminishing our core value proposition – strong local market presence and customer service.”
