(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Host.net (www.host.net) announced on Tuesday it is now offering cloud computing services following its acquisition of virtualization solutions provider Fairway Consulting Group (www.fcgroup.us).
The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Host.net’s newly added cloud computing service use Fairway Consulting Group’s infrastructure including its virtualization technologies.
The acquisition also adds key Fairway executives to Host.net, providing virtual computing expertise as well as leading to the development of new joint services.
Founded in 2004, Fairway provides compute, storage and desktop virtualization services to the SMB and enterprise markets, including Fortune 500 clients, says the company.
“The demand for cloud computing is exploding because of the economics,” says Jeffrey Davis. “We have been planning to expand our services to include virtualization for some time. Acquiring Fairway Consulting Group enables us to ramp up quickly, leverage our 50-city footprint, and offer robust, cost-effective cloud computing capabilities that have been road-tested by some of the country’s most demanding companies.”
The combined companies operate data centers in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta with POPs in nearly 50 cities.
Host.net provides enterprise network infrastructure services focusing on colocation, virtualization and network transport for enterprise, government, educational, medical and wholesale carrier customers.
The company operates a diverse, nationwide fiber-optic backbone delivering Internet, MPLS and layer 2 communications using a wide range of last-mile options.
It serves customers in most major metropolitan regions of North America as well as parts of Europe.
