December 17, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting software developer SWsoft (swsoft.com) announced on Monday that Web hosting provider Host Europe had adopted the Application Packaging Standard developed by SWsoft to enable its customers to easily add and remove web applications from their plans.
HostEurope released a set of APS applications for its WebPack and WebPack Pro hosting plans, incorporating the popular open source programs Joomla, MediaWiki and phpBB Forum. While the applications are freely available online, the APS packaging makes them simple to install and manage.
“By supporting the APS standard, we’re building a foundation that will allow us to tap into the expanding market for hosted SaaS applications,” says Uwe Braun, managing director of Host Europe. “SaaS is an industry trend that will dramatically simplify enterprise IT in the next decade to provide exciting new business opportunities for the entire software industry.”
SWsoft says implementing the standard will enable Host Europe to offer customers a greater variety of applications.
Last Week, SWsoft reported that it plans to change its corporate name and branding to Parallels, beginning in 2008.
