Host Dept. Upgrades Facility Switches

March 3, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Host Department (hostdepartment.com) announced on Monday it has upgraded all of its Hurricane Electric data center switches to increase its overall network reliability.

When the company found slight network performance variations in five of the Hurricane Electric cabinets, it decided to replace the previous DELL 5324 switches with two Cisco Catalyst 3550 Series counterparts. All network connectivity is now distributed through these Cisco switches. ”Optimal network connectivity is one of the most essential entities within a Web hosting business,” says Ivan Brunetti, Host Department’s technical and operational manager. “Tomorrow, we’ll start on replacing and optimizing all the remaining manageable switches in the data center.”

Host Department announced last month it extended its Valentine’s Day Special due to popular demand.
